VAMPIRE FACIAL

A PRP vampire facial treatment, popularised by celebrities, combines micro needling with PRP therapy to rejuvenate the skin. Micro needling involves using a device with tiny needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating collagen production and enhancing absorption of topical products.

HAIR REJUVENATION

PRP hair rejuvenation treatment is a non-surgical procedure aimed at stimulating hair growth and improving hair thickness and quality. It involves extracting a small amount of the patient's blood, typically from their arm, and processing it to isolate the platelet-rich plasma. This plasma, rich in growth factors and other bioactive proteins, is then injected into the scalp at targeted areas experiencing hair thinning or loss.

Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy harnesses the body's natural healing process to promote tissue repair and regeneration. The procedure involves several key steps:

  1. Blood Collection: A small volume of the patient's blood (typically 30-60 millilitres) is drawn from a peripheral vein, usually in the arm, using a sterile technique similar to a standard blood draw.

  2. Centrifugation: The collected blood is then centrifuged in a specialised machine to separate its components. Centrifugation causes the blood to stratify into layers based on density, with the heavier red blood cells settling at the bottom, and the lighter platelet-rich plasma rising to the top.

  3. Plasma Extraction: After centrifugation, the plasma layer, which contains a concentrated amount of platelets and other bioactive molecules, is carefully extracted using sterile techniques. This platelet-rich plasma is what will be used for the treatment.

  4. Application: The PRP is then administered to the target tissue through injections, topical application, or in combination with other medical procedures such as micro needling.

  5. Mechanism of Action: Platelets in PRP contain numerous growth factors and cytokines, including platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and insulin-like growth factor (IGF), among others. These factors play crucial roles in wound healing, tissue repair, angiogenesis (formation of new blood vessels), and modulation of the inflammatory response.

  6. Tissue Response: Upon administration, the growth factors and other bioactive molecules in PRP stimulate various cellular processes, including proliferation, differentiation and migration of cells involved in tissue repair. This leads to enhanced healing, regeneration, and remodelling of the targeted tissue.

 

Overall, PRP therapy exploits the regenerative potential of the body's own platelets to accelerate healing and promote tissue regeneration in various medical and aesthetic applications. While the specific protocols and applications may vary depending on the clinical indication and practitioner preference, the fundamental principles of PRP therapy remain consistent across different contexts.​
